The Nebraska Cornhuskers men’s basketball team announced several contract extensions Tuesday morning, keeping general manager Luca Virgilio and assistant coaches Nate Loenser, Ernie Ziegler, and Pat Monaghan.

Loenser’s contract is noteworthy since, after serving as Nebraska’s defensive coordinator, he was elevated to associate head coach. He and head coach Fred Hoiberg have a lengthy history together, having collaborated at Iowa State and the Chicago Bulls. Ziegler, who enrolled in the program in 2022, is a major recruiter in addition to concentrating mostly on offensive.

Monaghan joined the team in April 2025 and helps with recruiting, player development, and game preparation. Throughout Hoiberg’s whole time at Lincoln, Virgillio has stayed by his side, continuing to play a crucial role in the background.

Each of the four has contributed significantly to the development of the software. The program, which most recently made it to the Sweet 16, is on a rising trend. The program will be able to keep developing thanks to these extensions.
