Lionel Messi Set to Earn a Staggering Sum in the United States, Alongside Additional Incentives in MLS. Messi is on the verge of joining Inter Miami on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract with PSG. Jorge Mas, co-owner of the MLS team, has provided details about Messi’s earnings in the United States.

Mas disclosed that Apple and Adidas played significant roles in convincing Messi to choose Inter Miami over his preferred destination of Barcelona or a move to Saudi Arabia. In an interview with Spanish outlet El Pais, Mas stated that Messi’s salary at Inter Miami will range between $50 and $60 million per season, which is reportedly lower than what was offered by Saudi Arabia.

Lionel Messi turned down a Middle East offer

It was reported that Lionel Messi rejected an offer from the Middle East that amounted to around $550 million per season. Instead, he chose to head to the United States, as Saudi Arabia was never seen as a likely destination for him to conclude his football career. Jorge Mas, Inter Miami’s co-owner, shared additional details, stating that once Messi retires, he will receive shares in the club.

Furthermore, Messi will also benefit from a share of the MLS’s global broadcasting rights on Apple TV and the revenue from the club’s Adidas kit. Mas revealed the extensive efforts he put into finalizing the deal, including numerous conversations with Messi’s father, Jorge.

The negotiations were concluded at the end of May after approximately a year and a half of intensive work. David Beckham, another co-owner of Inter Miami, engaged in discussions with Messi solely about soccer matters, ensuring that he did not feel pressured during the process.

“We have had discussions in various locations, such as Barcelona, Miami, Rosario, and Doha. I even spent the entire World Cup in Qatar, closely watching Argentina’s matches. “The agreement with Apple was crucial in finalizing the deal. Our conversations with Apple have been progressing well, and our interests are aligning.

If soccer continues to thrive in the United States, Messi will reap the rewards. “On the other hand, Beckham shared his experience of being inundated with messages after the announcement of Messi’s transfer, as his phone was bombarded with notifications.

During the ‘Lessons in Leadership’ seminar, Beckham shared his excitement about the overwhelming response he received after the news broke. He revealed, “A few weeks ago, I woke up to an influx of messages on my phone.

I was taken aback and wondered what had happened because I don’t usually receive such a massive number of messages. Suddenly, I learned that Leo had announced his decision to come to Miami. Although it wasn’t a surprise to me, it was still incredible.”

Beckham emphasized his commitment to bringing the best players to Miami at any stage of their careers.”Right from the start, I have always stated that if I had the opportunity to bring the finest players in the sport to Miami, I would do it. I made this promise to our fans.

Therefore, when I heard that one of the best, if not the best player, who has achieved everything in the game and is still performing at an exceptional level, wants to play for my team, it is an immense moment for us.”

Manchester City finalizing coveted groundbreaking transfer

Despite being only 21 years old, Gvardiol has already established himself as one of the top central defenders in the world. The towering Croatian currently plays for RB Leipzig in Germany, but it seems that his next destination will be Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium.

Manchester City Near Gvardiol Deal Could Become World’s Costliest Defender

Renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano disclosed on June 24 that Manchester City had reached a consensus on personal terms with Gvardiol, who is known for his adeptness with his left foot. Sky Germany reported that Manchester City made a substantial bid of €90m (approximately £77m) for Gvardiol, the RB Leipzig defender.

However, Leipzig turned down the offer, hoping to secure a higher sum of €100m (approximately £86m). As per the latest update from the Telegraph, Leipzig’s patience has paid off, and Manchester City is now poised to sign Gvardiol for the requested £86 million fee.

This transfer would make Gvardiol the most expensive defender in football history, surpassing the £80m Manchester United paid for Harry Maguire’s acquisition in 2019. The report indicated that Manchester City is very close to completing the deal, and Sky Germany went as far as describing Gvardiol as Guardiola’s “absolute dream player.”

Adding more credibility to the transfer rumors, Max Eberl, Leipzig’s sporting director, confirmed that Gvardiol and his agents expressed their desire to move to Manchester City.

Discussions between Leipzig and City are ongoing, and the deal is expected to go through for the agreed-upon fee of €100m plus additional bonuses. Gvardiol’s potential transfer to Manchester City would make him the most expensive defender in history, although finalizing the deal may still require a few more days.

The addition of Guardiola to Manchester City’s treble-winning squad is expected to further strengthen the team in the upcoming week. However, the player whom Gvardiol is likely to replace may not need to go far to secure his next club. 29-year-old Aymeric Laporte is reportedly available for sale this summer.

The pursuit of Guardiola is one of the reasons for this, along with Laporte losing his regular starting position to Nathan Ake last season. According to the Daily Mail, Manchester City would not impede Laporte’s departure if the opportunity arises this summer. In this regard, 90min reported that Tottenham has shown interest in signing Laporte, as new manager Ange Postecoglou is expected to bring in two new center-backs.

Additionally, Mundo Deportivo revealed on Sunday that Arsenal has also displayed interest in Laporte. Arsenal has had successful acquisitions from Manchester City in recent times, with notable examples being Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus. While there is no concrete valuation for Laporte mentioned in the media, Transfermarkt estimates his value at around £21.5m.

Inter Milan Completes Signing of French Striker Marcus Thuram on a Free Transfer Inter Milan has officially announced the signing of Marcus Thuram, the 25-year-old French striker and son of 1998 World Cup winner Lilian Thuram. He has agreed to a five-year contract with the Serie A club, reportedly worth €6.5 million ($7.1 million) per season.

Inter Milan signs Thuram

The deal comes after Thuram’s successful season with Bundesliga side Borussia Moenchengladbach, during which he scored 13 goals. Following the conclusion of the season, Thuram became a free agent, leading to his move to Inter Milan. In an official statement on the club’s website, Inter Milan confirmed Thuram’s arrival, stating, “Marcus Thuram signs for Inter.

The forward, born in 1997, joins the Nerazzurri after spending four seasons with Borussia Dortmund. “Thuram is set to join forces with Lautaro Martinez in the team’s forward line, taking the place of veteran Edin Dzeko, who recently signed with Turkish giants Fenerbahce.

Interestingly, Marcus Thuram was born in Parma, where his father, Lilian Thuram, played for five seasons and achieved success, including winning the UEFA Cup and Italian Cup in 1999 alongside renowned players such as Gianluigi Buffon and Fabio Cannavaro. In a twist of fate, Thuram’s father and the Italian team, featuring Buffon and Cannavaro, triumphed over France in the 2006 World Cup final, winning on penalties.

Lilian Thuram had initially hoped his son would pursue either fencing or judo, but Marcus defied his father’s wishes and chose football as his career path. Marcus Thuram also experienced World Cup heartbreak in the December 2022 final when France faced off against Argentina and Lautaro Martinez.

Despite a thrilling 3-3 draw, with France coming back from a 2-0 halftime deficit, they ultimately lost in a penalty shootout. Thuram, who has made ten appearances for the national team, played a significant role in setting up the equalizer that forced the game into extra time.

Thuram’s arrival at Inter Milan could potentially see him competing for a place in the starting lineup alongside Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian striker is currently in talks to extend his stay in Milan, despite his loan spell from Chelsea ending this week.
