Inter Milan’s CEO, Giuseppe Marotta, has left the door open for the potential return of Andre Onana from Manchester United in the future.
The option of Inter reacquiring Onana remains a possibility. This follows Onana’s transfer to Manchester United in the recent summer, which didn’t commence on an ideal note.
In retrospect, just one season after Inter secured Onana for free from Ajax, they sold the Cameroonian goalkeeper for a base fee of €51 million (£43.8m/$57.3m). While Yan Sommer currently occupies the role of the club’s goalkeeper, Marotta, the CEO, hinted at the prospect of considering Onana’s return in the future.

Marotta stated, “I cannot foresee the future, but in football, anything is possible. Undoubtedly, it was a significant chapter for Onana and for us. It was also a successful transaction to sign him for free and sell him for that amount.”
Zooming out, since his arrival at Manchester United over the summer, Onana has encountered a challenging period of form, conceding 19 goals in 11 matches. In the Premier League, he has allowed 12 goals, with his team currently occupying the 10th spot in the league standings.
What lies ahead?
The 27-year-old is slated to make his comeback for his team as they go head-to-head with Sheffield United in the Premier League on October 21. For now, football enthusiasts will be eagerly watching as the Cameroonian goalkeeper continues to find his footing at Manchester United, and whether the possibility of a future return to Inter Milan will materialize. The beautiful game is renowned for its unpredictability, and the story of Andre Onana’s career is yet another testament to its ever-evolving nature.
