Neita from Britain wins over Richardson at Suzhou Diamond League

Daryll Neita of Britain clinched first place in the women’s 200m competition at the Suzhou Diamond League, defeating world 100m champion Sha’Carri Richardson. Neita, 27, marked her season debut in outdoor individual racing with a time of 22.62 seconds, comfortably ahead of Anavia Battle who finished in 22.99 seconds.

Richardson, an American and the previous year’s world 200m bronze medalist, came in third with a time of 23.11 seconds. Neita expressed her satisfaction with the win, saying, “I came here praying and hoping for the win. To come out here and win it, in a decent time, in such a strong field, I feel really confident going forward.”

Additionally, Ethan Hussey, also from Britain, secured fifth place in the men’s 800m with a time of one minute 45.55 seconds. Meanwhile, in the men’s pole vault, Mondo Duplantis emerged victorious by clearing 6.00m on his initial attempt, falling short of the world record of 6.24m set the previous weekend in Xiamen.

The next event in the Diamond League series is slated for May 10th in Doha, Qatar. In other athletics news, Emmanuel Wanyonyi of Kenya set a new men’s road mile world record with a time of 3:54.50 in Herzogenaurach, Germany.
