Victor Osimhen and Asisat Oshoala from Nigeria emerged as the standout performers at the CAF Awards 2023 held in Marrakech on December 11. Osimhen achieved the CAF African Player of the Year, surpassing rivals such as Achraf Hakimi and Mohamed Salah, while Oshoala secured her sixth CAF African Women’s Player of the Year.

Walid Regragui of Morocco and Desiree Ellis of South Africa were honored as the Best Coaches in the Men’s and Women’s categories. Percy Tau of South Africa and Al Ahly claimed the CAF InterClub Player of the Year awards.
Lamine Camara from Senegal and Nesryne El Chad from Morocco were named the CAF Young Player of the Year for men and women, respectively. Morocco and Nigeria received recognition for the Men’s and Women’s National Team awards, and Al Ahly and Mamelodi Sundowns were acknowledged as the Male and Female Clubs of the Year.
South Africa dominated the Best XI players in the Women’s category, while two Moroccan players featured in the male version. The award recipients were determined through a voting process involving the CAF Technical Committee, Head Coaches, National Team captains, and media professionals.
