Liverpool kicked off their journey to achieve UEFA Europa League glory with a victory over LASK in Austria last Thursday. Despite initially falling behind due to a 20-yard strike by Florian Flecker, they made a comeback in the 56th minute with a penalty kick from Darwin Nunez. Goals from Luis Diaz and substitute Mohamed Salah later sealed a 3-1 victory for Jurgen Klopp’s team.

Thursday saw West Ham United clinch a 3-1 victory despite trailing initially. They emerged triumphant against TSC Backa Topola in London, even though Petar Stanic put the Serbian side ahead 1-0 in the 48th minute following an error by Angelo Ogbonna.

West Ham equalized the score through a Nemanja Petrovic own goal and then secured the win with goals from Mohammed Kudus and Tomas Soucek. Meanwhile, in another Thursday match, Brighton & Hove Albion suffered a defeat in their debut Europa League encounter as AEK Athens emerged victorious with a 3-2 scoreline on the South Coast. Djibril Sidibe, Mijat Gacinovic, and Ezequiel Ponce found the back of the net for Athens, stunning the AMEX Stadium. Joao Pedro managed to level the score twice for Brighton.

This loss posed a significant setback for the Seagulls, who also have the challenge of facing formidable opponents such as Ajax and Marseille in Group B.
