The subsequent goal came from David Hancko, whose long-range shot found the net with a little help from a deflection off Antonio Silva.
Despite Slovakia’s determined defense, Cristiano emerged as the hero of the match when Vavro’s attempted clearance inadvertently set the ball up for the former Real Madrid forward. Ronaldo seized the opportunity and calmly finished, extending Portugal’s lead once more.
This meant that not even Stanislav Lobotka’s impressive long-range goal could level the score.
