Exploiting a subpar clearance from Marcelo, Nathan Aké attempted a shot from the edge of the penalty area, striking the right post of Fabio’s goal. Alvarez seized the rebound, directing the ball into the net with his chest.
The opening goal for City occurred when defender Nino scored an own goal in the 27th minute. While trying to intercept Phil Foden’s cross, the Brazilian accidentally deflected the ball into his own net. Foden later added the third goal of the match in the 72nd minute, converting a precise toe-poke after connecting with Julian Alvarez’s powerful cross.
Manchester City secured the victory as Julian Alvarez completed a brace in the 88th minute. The Argentinian received a superb assist from Kyle Walker, skillfully evaded Andre in the midfield with a feint, and finished the play with a cross-shot.
