The Coloso Marcelo Bielsa stadium witnessed an engaging first half, characterized by impressive displays of skill, an attacking mindset, and multiple chances to score. However, despite their efforts, neither team managed to find the back of the net, resulting in a stalemate. Newell’s and Atlético Tucumán engaged in an enthralling goalless draw on Monday at the Coloso Bielsa stadium in Rosario’s Parque Independencia, constituting the 25th match of the Professional League.
A momentary triumph for Paraguayan striker Jorge Recalde came in the 13th minute as he headed the ball into the net, but the goal was disallowed by VAR due to Jeremías Pérez Tica being in an offside position during the initial play. Both teams exhibited an attractive style of play in the first half at the Rosario stadium, showcasing precise passing, offensive determination, and numerous opportunities to score.
Atlético Tucumán came close to taking the lead in the 4th minute when Coronel battled against Martino on the right side, leading to Estigarribia delivering a well-executed cross that Adrián Sánchez narrowly headed over the crossbar.
The visiting team generated their second dangerous chance in the 28th minute when Pablo Pérez lost possession in midfield, allowing Tesuri to find Coronel, who unleashed a powerful right-footed shot that struck the top of the goal frame, leaving the goalkeeper helpless.
Newell’s retaliated in the 29th minute with Aguirre’s attempt from his right foot, which was comfortably saved by Marchiori. In the 40th minute, a skillfully executed set-piece resulted in a cross back to Martino, who delivered a pass beyond Velázquez, presenting him with a clear opportunity to score. However, he disappointingly sent his shot high over the goal.

In the second half, Atlético Tucumán displayed a heightened performance, particularly in the early stages, as they asserted control over the field, launched attacking moves, and posed a considerable threat. Approximately 20 seconds into the half, Orihuela played a pass to Pereyra on the left, who then delivered a cross that Estigarribia met with a left-footed shot on the run.
However, the ball struck the outer side of the net. Eight minutes later, the visiting team had another scoring opportunity when Coronel found himself in a one-on-one situation with the goalkeeper. Nonetheless, Hoyos made a crucial save with his feet.
Newell’s, on the other hand, regained possession of the ball and managed to create a couple of clear-cut chances. In the 22nd minute, Martino unleashed a shot that was expertly saved by Marcelo Ortiz. Notably, Velázquez missed a golden opportunity with a high right-footed shot from close range within the six-yard box, following a corner from Portillo on the left.
It took until the 29th minute for Atlético Tucumán to mount a response, with Pereyra attempting a left-footed shot that narrowly went over the crossbar. Throughout the match, Newell’s maintained an attacking approach until the final whistle, but they were ultimately unable to find the back of the net.
