Joselu, the forward for Real Madrid, reached a significant achievement as Los Blancos claimed a win in the confrontation with Union Berlin. Real Madrid secured a close 3-2 victory against Union Berlin on the ultimate matchday of the 2023-2024 Champions League Group C preliminary round. The match transpired at the Berlin Olympic Stadium in Germany on Wednesday (13/12/2023) in the early morning WIB. Joselu displayed an exceptional performance against Union Berlin.

Joselu’s effectiveness remains undiminished by age, as demonstrated by the 33-year-old’s record-setting achievements at Real Madrid. According to Opta Jose, Joselu now holds the title of the oldest player to score the first two goals for Real Madrid in the Champions League. Surpassing the previous record set by Madrid icon Luis Figo, who accomplished this feat at the age of 32 years and 34 days, Joselu earned the man of the match accolade in the Union Berlin vs. Madrid game. His stellar performance garnered praise from Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti.

Ancelotti underscored Joselu’s transformative impact on Real Madrid’s playing style, remarking, “We didn’t play well in the first half when we tried to build attacks from within. That’s not a good approach.” The former Bayern Munich and AC Milan coach went on to laud Joselu, recognizing his eight goals for the team and emphasizing his valuable contributions against defensive opponents.

In the meantime, Real Madrid has secured a berth in the last 16 of the 2023-2024 Champions League as Group C champions, accumulating an impressive 18 points. Their flawless performance in the Group C phase, winning all six matches, is commendable. Napoli, the Group C runners-up, will also progress to the last 16 of the 2023-2024 Champions League.
